How our work is funded
The Emigrant Support Programme is the Irish Government’s support of and commitment to the global Irish community, particularly the welfare of Irish emigrants abroad and returning home. We have received funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs ‘Emigrant Support Programme’ for over 15 years.
The funding we receive allows us to:
- Provide a direct service to Irish emigrants returning home in crisis, including working with Consular Services abroad and key agencies in Ireland to assist in accommodation, welfare and health supports
- Carry out research into the existing and developing needs of Irish emigrants, and promote positive changes at national policy level to help support them
- Network and engage with Irish support organisations abroad, in particular other ESP-funded groups, to share knowledge, expertise and help build the collective capacity of all organisations working with the Irish abroad and on return
- Create specialised information resources that meet the bespoke needs of the Irish abroad and particularly those planning to return home
Here’s what some of the people we have supported have to say about our work:
” Thank you so so much for your help! I can only imagine how many people are grateful for the support you provide in this process”
“I much appreciated your help on my journey home”
“I gained so much helpful information from your website and previous correspondence with you….Thank you so much for the service you provide.”
We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Irish Abroad Unit.
