Irish Support Organisations Abroad

 Nice Cup of Tea

What Kind of Support is Available?

If you are thinking of emigrating from Ireland or you are already living overseas, Irish groups abroad can be a good way of finding out about your destination before you go and to make connections with the local Irish community once you arrive. These groups vary from Irish welfare organisations providing valuable support to Irish emigrants in need, to Irish business networks, sports & social clubs, social media groups and groups focused on promoting Irish culture and heritage. They can provide you with the opportunity to create friendships and meet new people in your chosen destination. Some even offer opportunities to get involved by volunteering, and can also signpost you to your local GAA club (http://international.gaa.ie/) or Comhaltas branch (https://comhaltas.ie/).

Which Countries have Irish Support Organisations?

Lots of them! Below you will find details of some Irish organisations in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Europe, the UK and the USA as well as other useful contacts in places such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Middle East, Africa, and South America. You can also find more useful links and websites listed under the various country sections of this website.

Additionally, the Global Irish section of the Department of Foregin Affairs website has a list ofIrish organisations in other countries. See www.dfa.ie/global-irish/living-abroad/. There is also an Irish Diaspora website. See http://www.diaspora.ie/starship/diaspora-websites/

Embassies and Consulates

Contact details for Irish Embassies and Consulates around the world are available at: www.dfa.ie/embassies/irish-embassies-abroad/. Most of the Embassy websites include a section on local Irish groups as well so it's well worth taking the time to check these out.
